GETTING THE BEST SATELLITE RECEPTION ON YOUR PC

In the new age of technology, one of the most exciting changes is that of satellite television. With this option, a person can enjoy a much better image than that of regular or cable television. Because satellite offers far more channels, better clarity, and better reliability over other options, we see a growing number of households making the change. Now, to ensure the reception for your satellite is the best it can be, there are a number of considerations.

For instance, it is imperative that the signal coming from the satellite to the television set go through a receiver. The signal, which is produced with a transmitter from both audio and video, is carried through wire so it can then be broadcasted from an antenna. With this particular type of signal, the electromagnetic wave is capable of traveling at very high speeds. Keep in mind that with distance, the power behind this signal would diminish. Therefore, for signals to be sent long distances, fiber optic cable, microwaves, coaxial cable, and satellites go to work.

Specific to satellite, signals for television are carried from various stations where traditional microwave towers or cable cannot be used. For instance, satellite allows signals to be carried across oceans, something impossible for cable and towers. The satellites orbit above the earth where the role is similar to a land tower. As coded television signals are received form the earth’s station, the signals are then amplified and shot back to earth.

One of the most important aspects of this signal reaching the home or business for perfect reception is the dish. For the dish to be fully effective, it has to be aimed properly at a specific satellite. That means if there were any obstructions such as fences, trees, buildings, towers, and so on, the signal would be blocked and the reception very poor. However, receiving signals from the satellite also means you need a top box for any pay-per-view or premium programming.

A common complaint among satellite owners is the loss of good or any reception. Remember, usually the only time reception is lost is during a storm due to the build-up of water on the satellite dish. The best solution, unbelievably, is to use a non-stick cooking spray to coat the satellite dish. The reason this can help is that as rain sticks to the satellite, the drops of water cause a loss of reception. Therefore, by coating the satellite dish with the non-stick cooking spray, water droplets simply roll off.

Another option is for dishes mounted to the side of a home, place a piece of clear fiberglass in front of the dish, again, protecting it from the water. This shield blocks out rain and now, providing you with a clear and crisp image. Other than a few “home remedies”, you would expect outages during storms. However, if you were willing to try one or both options, you would likely be pleased with the results.
