THE WORLD OF LCD TECHNOLOGY - SATELLITE TV ON COMPUTER

LCD is the acronym for “Liquid Crystal Display”, which today, is associated with many of the televisions we watch. Many people connect LCD with overhead projectors but now, its use has expanded. For instance, many of the new televisions on the market today are made with phenomenal technology. The result is crystal-clear images and unmatched audio. The downside to some of the newer technology is the price! However, if clarity and excellent sound are important to you, then you should check out the changes.

LCD flat panel computer monitors and televisions make viewing less stressful on the eyes. The earlier option was a curved analog screen and while it served its purpose, the viewing did cause eyestrain. Today, LCD specific to flat screens has made this less of a problem. Keep in mind that while an LCD television is brighter than the analog version, it can also perform much more efficiently in low light. Therefore, when snuggling on the sofa with the lights down low, an LCD screen is a much better choice.

Another huge benefit to an LCD television is that it weighs far less than a standard set. Just look at the new televisions that can be hung on the wall or over a fireplace. Obviously, this would not be something you could do with any other type of set. In fact, when comparing the two options, a flat screen television weighs about 50% less that that or the older models. The outcome is a sleek design that is better on the eyes and one that is far more versatile.

Now, one of the advantages to the curved analog screen is that you could enjoy viewing from just about any place in the room. Unfortunately, with the flat screen, you need to be within a 160-degree area. Therefore, if you are sitting in a chair or on a sofa positioned directly in front of the screen, your viewing will be spectacular but if you were off to the side, not so good. Typically, the more out of the 160-degree range, the more color is lost and the image becomes distorted.

In addition, the LCD television screen has a greater dot pitch ratio. In other words, this is the amount of space on the screen, located between the pixels. The key when choosing a new television set that has an LCD screen is to stick with something about .28 dot pitch since going higher means image quality deterioration. The greatest benefit to going with an LCD screen is definitely the actual image.

You see, by using the LCD technology in televisions, a wider image can be produced, otherwise known as “widescreen TV”. The difference is quite substantial. For instance, the older, more furniture-like television sets most of us grew up with have a NTSC 4:3 ratios while LCD is 16:9. The result is a larger, better image, making the LCD route a wonderful advancement in how we view our favorite shows.
