SATELLITE TV ON THE INTERNETSatellites have changed the way in which we live, work, and play. The first step after the design and development of the satellite is to get it launched into space. For this, the satellite rides on a rocket or in the cargo bay of the space shuttle. In fact, a number of countries now have the capability of launching satellites. Once the rocket is launched straight up, a control mechanism calculates required adjustments via an inertial guidance system. Going through a complicated process of rotating to the east of the earth’s surface and using incredible power, the rocket makes its way to its intended space definition. Typically, at 120 miles above earth, smaller rockets are fired to launch the vehicle into a horizontal position. From there, the actual satellite is released at which time the rockets fire again so separation occurs between the rocket and the actual satellite. At this point, the satellite is positioned where it now becomes a vital part of life. Although there are hundreds of satellites orbiting the earth, used for various purposes such as reconnaissance missions, spying, GPS, scientific experiments, and more, we also have satellites used for internet access. The huge advantage to having satellite is that for homes or businesses in isolated places, often being able to enjoy fast internet service without the pain of dial-up is impossible. However, with satellites, everyone around the glove can get online, efficiently and quickly. Receiving internet via satellite signal is commonplace today. You will also find that satellite offers many exciting options. For example, if you have a boat, you could actually use a computer while on the water, thanks to satellite. If you are in the mountains, vacationing in foreign countries, and so on, satellite allows you to gain access to the internet, something that was not possible previously. For satellite to work within your home or office, some things need to be considered. For starters, you need a satellite dish, which would be mounted to the exterior of the building. However, the key to satellite actually working is that the receiver has to have a clear line to the satellite. In other words, the satellite dish would need to be unobstructed by trees, fences, buildings, and so on. Of course, with a professional installation, the technician would know the best location for the dish. Although satellites offer tremendous benefit, there are a couple of drawbacks with weather being the number one complaint. You see, during stormy weather, such as heavy snow or rain, the signal from the satellite to the dish can be affected. Because of this, the internet connection may not be as reliable or efficient. The good news is that with satellite, you will have a fast internet connection, often up to 10 times as fast as dial-up service. Although cable and DSL are 100 times faster than a dial-up modem is, even quicker than satellite, you still have good speed and the advantage of being able to go virtually anywhere while having service.
