HDTV AND SATELLITE TELEVISION

The last ten years have been very exciting for people who love watching television. What started out as a simple, black and white television set eventually moved to cable and then on to satellite. Now, we see a new system known as High Definition Television or HDTV. What makes HDTV so great is the pictures are exceptionally crisp.

When watching your favorite movie, sporting event, or regular programming, you will be amazed at the outstanding video produced. Now, if you want an even better picture with the best audio possible, you want to experience HDTV and satellite television. These technological concepts together create a powerhouse that is very, hard to beat. The result is clarity, as you have never known before.

When shopping for an HDTV television, you will discover your choice of three formats to include 1080p, 1080i, and 720p. Another advantage to using HDTV and satellite is that the widescreen format means you have a much better view, which is also known as the 16:0 aspect ratio, meaning your television is similar to the same picture you would enjoy at your local theater but even better!

To understand HDTV a little better, we wanted to address some of the confusing aspects. First, when talking about the three formats, the “i” is representative of “interlaced” while the “p” is for “progressive”. In other words, the “i” and “p” depict the way in which lines are shown on the television screen. The numbers associated with the formats are the actual number of lines present. The bottom line is that the higher number of lines the better clarity, precision, and detail of the image being displayed.

For individuals who use satellite television on an HDTV television, you end up with a compatibility that exudes perfection. Keep in mind that only an HDTV set is able to display high definition content, something a standard television set cannot do simply because the technology needed is missing. If you only have a standard television set, then what you see is known as “enhanced television”, which shows high definition content as 480 lines, much less than that of the HDTV set.

One of the challenges is trying to narrow your choices down to just one. Obviously, you will find a large number of high-definition televisions on the market, as well as many different satellite programs. Although some people do prefer the “interlaced” option, most consider the “progressive” to be the better choice only because the image displayed is doubled per second on the television screen.

For a high-definition television to provide you with high definition, a special tuner box is required, which can be found through your satellite provider or cable company if you do not have satellite. The one thing you can be sure of is that if you happen to be the one with both HDTV and satellite, expect the neighborhood to come to your house for all the important sporting events, concerts, and movies. Once you go this route – you will never go back.
