THE DISH TV SATELLITE NETWORK

DISH Network is one of the leaders when it comes to satellite television and audio programming. Reaching throughout the country, this satellite provider has been a huge benefit for homes and businesses. DISH Network is owned by a company called EchoStar Communications Corporation. Although DISH Network was first founded in 1996, EchoStar was originally formed in 1980. At that time, the company distributed C Band television. However, seven years later, the company expanded after applying for and receiving its geostationary orbital slot from the FCC.

Then in 1995, the first satellite called EchoStar I was launched. While its success was uncertain, it actually went on to provide the first successful launch from China. With this, DISH Network was created, which stands for “Digital Sky Highway”. Today, the most common satellite offered is the 20-inch, which receives its signal from on location. Originally, an 18-inch satellite dish was used but with new technology, subscribers were able to enjoy much greater services.

By 2003, DISH Network was offering service to Song, an airline in the United States. Then one year later, various music channels were offered. Then, DISH Network joined forces with a company called Starband, which mean satellite internet service was available, as well as satellite television. Although the partnership did not live long, it was the catalyst for opening yet another technological door for DISH Network.

Just this past summer, DISH Network collaborated with WildBlue so broadband could be provided by satellite. Over the next year, many new and exciting features are expected to launch such as programming events, additional channels, hardware news, and more. Today, more than 30 million people have discovered the benefits of using satellite television to personal computer, with the numbers growing.

Just when it seemed that things were leveling off, DISH Network made yet another announcement when it began to offer all new HDTV channels available in MPEG-4 format, although the original MPEG-2 format remains available. Using a DVR and standard receiver, both of these HDTV formats are available. Keep in mind that the intension is to upgrade to MPEG-4 at some point.

Because DISH Network uses different types of satellites for receiving signals, it can reach far more homes and businesses with perfect video and audio. This, coupled with all the features provided by DISH Network is what has made this a reliable and reputable source for satellite television. Although some satellite companies have come and gone, without doubt, DISH Network will be around for many years, continuing to be a leader in the industry.
